Discovery of lobe-fins is considered very significant by evolutionary biologists. Explain
Lobe-finned fishes belong to the class sarcopterygii. They are the group of bony fishes that have paired, fleshy and lobbed fins. Discovery of lobe-fined fishes is considered very significant by evolutionary biologists because it was believed that they gave rise to tetrapods (first land four limb vertebrates). The articulation of fins resembled those of tetrapod limbs. During the course of evolution, these fins developed into limbs of the first land vertebrates i.e amphibians.
