Question

discuss the growth of lichens on the bark of tree near the road

Open in App
Solution

Lichens normally grow on the bark of tree because they found it efficient for there growth based on their moisture content, pH and other factors. Lichens do not affect the bark of tree when they are growing on it, they consider it as their habitat not as a host to feed on. If they are growing on a road side tree it may be harmful for them because everyday pollution with all the acidic and alkaline substances can affect the pH of the tree that indirectly affect the growth and development of lichens.
