Question

Do electrons flow from a high potential to a low potential region or from low potential to high potential region?

Solution

Consider a thermodynamic analogy...

If we place two objects A and B in contact, such that A is hotter than B, then we would expect the system to be in equilibrium after some time. This is because the heat has flown from the hotter A to cooler B. The important quantity here is temperature. Heat Energy always from from a body with higher temperature to a body with a lower temperature.

This is a law of nature.

Similarly, current (or electrical energy) always flows from a point with higher potential to lower potential. Electrical Potential or Voltage is defined as the amount of work done by the electric field in moving a charge from one point to another. So a charge which constitutes current would always move from a point where more work is done on it to a point where its less. Its like pushing a bowling ball down an inclined plane.
