It is important that people participate in the decision making in the matters that affect them on the following accounts:

• Such decisions are legitimate as they have the will of the people
• The government or the machinery that executes their decisions would be accountable
• Transparency would be ensured in the matters related to the functioning of the government.
• Participation on matters that affect all will educate the citizens about general will, conflicts, consensus and cooperation.
• It will create an atmosphere of political socialisation and political culture
• The majority and minority section of the soceity would learn to negotiate each others concerns.
