Question

does adaptive radiation make changes in the genotype also?

Open in App
Solution

If the adaptations in an organism are inherited over the generations, it means that it has caused some change in its gene(s). Only the changes which have led to the change in genes will be inherited (inherited traits)and the ones which are acquired over time even as an adaptation but have not made any changes in the genes are acquired traits and not inherited to the offsprings. In adaptive radiation, the ecological adaptations are passed over the generations which means the traits are inherited and have made changes in the gene(s).Thus, the genotype has been altered but not entirely changed in adaptive radiation.
