Question

Does moment of inertia of a rigid body change with the speed of rotation? Explain.

Open in App
Solution

Moment of inertia is given by:I = mr2where m is the mass of the body and r is the perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation. So moment of inertia only depends on the mass of the body and r, so there will be no effect of speed of rotation on moment of inertia, hence it will remain same.
