Does water really show abnormal behaviour below 4 degree C?? It contracts or expands??
Yes, it might sound weird but water contracts when heated from 0 to 4 deg. C. Its the only liquid we know of that does so.
Water expands below ___ and contracts above ___.
Water is cooled from 4∘C to 0∘C. It :
(a) contracts (b) expands
(c) first contracts, then expands
(d) first expands, then contracts.
When water cools, first it expands in volume but below 4°C it starts contracting until it reaches 0°C.
Water on heating from 0 ∘C to 4 ∘C contracts and on further heating it expands.
Why does water expand when cooled while gases contract?
