Question

Drop a crystal of potassium permanganate or copper sulphate into a glass containg hot water and another glass containing cold water. Do not stir the solution. Allow them to settle at the bottom. What does this suggest about the nature of solid and liquid?

We see that, the crystals will diffuse faster in hot water than the cold water which explains that the kinetic energy of solid particles or liquid particles (water) increases on heating. Hence they quickly mix together on heating.
