Question

During cell division, what happens to all the cell organelles? Do they too get divided?

Open in App
Solution

Cell organelles also get divided under the control of nucleus during cell division so that each daughter cell must have its essential cell organelles like mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, chloroplast (in plant cells) etc. Generally the process of division of cell organelles take place during interphase of the cell cycle. During this phase, the cell grows, proteins and enzymes are synthesised and it increases the number of organelles.
