The Second World War is known as the most destructive war in history because it took huge tolls of life, destroyed houses, communication lines and industries.

  • The Pearl Harbour incident of 1941 caused the death and injury of 3700 men.
  • The dropping of atomic bomb on Hiroshima around 84000 people. The simil;ar event in Nagasaki killed another 40000. The radiation poisoning caused due to these incidents also caused the death of many more.
  • The Holocaust caused the extermination of 5 million Jews. In Poland and Russia, the atrocities of Hitler also caused the death of another hundreds of thousands non-Jews.
  • The war left around 21 million homeless.
  • The industries and the cities of Germany were worst hit.
