The effect depends on nature and corrosiveness of acid or base as both of them are equally harmful as generally sulphuric acid is more dangerous than bases, but caustic soda (NaOH) is more dangerous than many acids as Hydrochloric acid(HCl), acetic acid(CH₃COOH), phosphoric acid and many other organic acids etc.
