Question

why do governor banned plastic bags?

Open in App
Solution

Plastic is non-biodegradable in nature. Plastic bags are banned just because they cause harmful effects in the environment. If plastic bags gets stuck in the soil after being discarded, it does not allow water to seep in as it is waterproof. If it gets entangled in the root tips of plants, it chokes them and does not allow them to absorb necessary nutrients form the soil. Ingesting it is very harmful for animals, as it can cause cancer. It carries the spores of various harmful microorganisms on it's surface and spreads them into the atmosphere. Due to it's non biodegradability, it stays in the soil and continues to poison it with toxic byproducts that keep leaching from it.
