Rate of diffusion (r) = $\frac{Volume of gas diffused (V)}{Time taken (t)}$

If two gases are diffusing having volume V₁ and V₂and time t₁ and t₂ .
Hence , $\frac{r_{1}}{r_{2}} = \frac{V_{1} / t_{1}}{V_{2} / t_{2}} = \frac{\sqrt{ρ_{2}}}{\sqrt{ρ_{1}}}$
Volumes are equal i.e. V₁= V₂

Therefore , $\frac{t_{1}}{t_{2}} = \frac{\sqrt{ρ_{1}}}{\sqrt{ρ_{2}}}$
