  • In the year 1789, the King of France ordered his troops to open fire on the citizens
  • To protest against this approach, some group of people attacked the government buildings and stormed suddenly into the fortress, Bastille
  • In this attack, the commander in chief of the fortress, was killed and prisoners were released
  • After this incident, Bastille lost its reputation as it showed the tyrannical and monarchial rule of the king
  • Finally, the Bastille fort was demolished by the peoples’ group
  • After the fall of Bastille, riots and protests took place in Paris
  • Prices of food especially, bread products shoot up high
  • This incident was a spark to the beginning of French Revolution which ultimately ended in killing the King
