Question

Expert,Static friction depends on nature of surface but limiting friction doesn't depend on are/shape. Isn't that contradicting? hellppp

Solution

Friction doesn't depend on the shape anywhere. It depends on the surface and their interactions. So, the interaction is microscopic and that's why we consider the normal force as a factor which controls the static friction. There are no contradiction.
Limiting friction is maximum static friction beyond which a body starts moving.
