1. Providing wood for various human use. Wood is widely used in construction. Forests also provide firewood as fuel to people living near them.

2. Forests are vital for maintaining ecological balance. Without forests, the amount of carbon dioxide will increase leading to greenhouse effect and rise in global temperature.

Two measures to conserve forest are

1. Restricting the cutting of trees and planting new trees in place of the older trees.
2. Declaring forests as natural parks which are protected from human economic activities.
