Explain 5 features of motivation?
The following points highlight the features of motivation.
i. Inherent feeling: Motivation is a feeling that is inherent to an employee. For instance the needs, wants, etc. are internal to individuals and directly influence their working behaviour.
ii. Leads to goal-oriented behaviour: Motivation influences the behavior of the employees and induces them to work towards the achievement of the goals of the organisation.
iii. Can be positive as well as negative: Motivations can take positive form such as rewards, incentives, promotions, etc. as well as negative form such as warning, demotions, etc. The kind of motivation to be followed depends on the needs and attitudes of the employee.
iv. Complicated process: There are numerous individuals in organisation that have different expectations and attitudes. This implies that motivation varies from one individual to another. This renders complexity to the process of motivation.
v. Continuous process: As human behaviour is complex and the needs of the human beings keep changing continuously, so accordingly, the function of motivation as performed by the managers must also change continuously.
