Explain briefly about the hydraulic structures used in the past

People in ancient India used hydraulic structures in the form of kul or gul to practice agriculture in western Himalayas. Rainwater harvesting was practiced in Rajasthan, whereas people built inundiation channels in flood plains. Also, agricultural fields were also converted into rain fed storage in arid and semi-arid regions.
