Solution
The main steps involved in the formation of a root nodule are:
1. The roots excretes substances
2. these substances attract Rhizobia and stimulate them to produce cell division factors
3. Cells in the root cortex divide to form primary nodule meristem
4. bacteria attach to the root hair
5. Cells in the pericycle near to the xylem poles are stimulated to divide.
6. Infection thread forms and spreads inwards
7. the two masses of dividing cells fuse and the infection thread continues to grow.
8. Nodule elongates and differentiates , including connection to the root stele.
