1) Subsistence crisis happens when the essentials of living are in danger of loss.
2) Production of foodgrains has to cope with the increasing population and also it’s ever increasing demand in the country.
3) When this fails, prices of essential foods increase fast. Thus poor people cannot afford the hike in prices.
4) This eventually results in famine and lack of nutrition leads to dangerous diseases.
5) Not only the population increase but also the natural calamities like storm, drought, etc. affect the harvest resulting in subsistence crisis.
