explain how equal genetic contribution of male and female parent is ensured in a progeny
During sexual reproduction, a female gamete (egg) fuses with a malegamete (sperm) which are haploid to form diploid zygote. The zygote contains 23 chromosomes from mother and 23 chromosomes fromfather. Thus, half the number of chromosomes come from mother and half from father. In this way, an equal genetic contribution of male and female parents is ensured in the progeny.
