Question

explain how temperature and preciptations are the most important elements of weather and the climate among the others with reference of variations in them

Open in App
Solution

Temperature and precipitation are the most important constituents of weather and climate as they vary both spatially and temporally, i.e. from place to place and season to season. Temperature regulates factors like evaporation, air pressure and wind systems while precipitation regulates humidity. Together they have a significant impact on vegetation of a place. In desert regions, day temperatures may reach close to 50° c while in mountainous regions, they are significantly lower. Spatial variations in temperatures are also visible latitudinally with regions close to equator having equitable distribution of temperature and regions in higher latitudes having a high range of temperature.

Precipitation varies both in forms and types as well as amount and seasonal distribution. Tropical regions receive more rainfall while deserts on the western margin of continents receive significantly less rainfall. Seasonally, rainfall is concentrated in the months of June to September with the onset of south west monsoon.
