The land use pattern in India is as follows-
The total geographical area is 3.28 million sq km.
Only 93 percent of the total geographical area is under land use.
46.2 percent is the net sown area.
4.17 percent is the wasteland.
22 percent is of the forest area.
The reason that the forest area has not increased from 1960 to 1961 are-
1. Deforestation
2. Overgrazing
3. Urbanisation
4. Industrialisation
