Explain the law of independent assortment
Law of independent assortment:
The law of independent assortment put forward by Mendel states that the alleles belonging to two different character assort independently from one another during the segregation of gametes in the process of gamete formation.
This means that each pair of contrasting character behaves independently and do not interfere with the other character when gametes are formed and that is why:
In an organism with the genotype: AaBb
The possible gametes will be: AB, Ab, aB, ab.
