  • Municipal waste is the waste collected by or on behalf of municipal authorities, or directly by the private sector. It is commonly known as garbage. The waste mainly collected from households, offices, public institutions like school, colleges and selected municipal services are also included. Wastes include recyclable wastes like, paper, glass, biodegradable wastes like kitchen wastes, non biodegradable wastes like plastics, e-wastes like batteries, medicinal wastes from hospitals, toxic wastes from industries and many more.

  • Municipal sewage networks, municipal construction and demolition waste are also contributes municipal wastes. The waste is transferred from a smaller collection vehicle to larger transport equipment. The waste is then transported, usually over long distances, to a processing or disposal site. Garbage dump is a major threat to the environment. Municipal waste can be used to generate energy.
