Binary fission is the fusion of a cell into two where each cell develops into a separate individual.

Transverse binary fission is the separation of cytoplasm between two pair of nuclei resulting in formation of two unrelated individuals. Ex: Paramecium.

Oblique binary fission is the division of cytoplasm obliquely resulting in the formation of two unequal individuals. Ex: certain members of kingdom protista.

Longitudinal binary fission is the division of cell longitudinally. Ex: Euglena
