Speciation may be defined as the evolutionary process by which a new species come into existence. Species is the unit of evolution. Evolutionary changes may occur gradually or rapidly resulting in speciation. On the other side, as speciation occurs two independent species cannot interbreed due to variations. These variations gradually increase generation after generation resulting in evolution.
