The 1848 revolution was led by educated middle class people.
In many parts of Europe such as Germany, Poland etc where the independent states did not exist men and women of liberal class demanded for constitutionalism alongwith national unification.
A large number of political associations rose in Germany whose members were middle class people. They decided to vote for an all German National Assembly in 1848.
They drafted a constitution for a German nation to be headed by a monarchy but subjected to parliament.
The parliament was now headed by middle class who did not pay much heed to the demands of workers and artisans and eventually they lost their support. Hence, the troops were called and the assembly was asked to disband.
Another important feature of the revolution was extending political rights to women.
Though the liberal movements was suppressed but the conservatives were not able to establish the same rule.
