Characteristics of Angiosperms:

1. Angiosperms are the most recent and highly evolved groups of flowering plants.

2. Seeds are enclosed within the fruits.

3. Well-developed conducting tissues are present. Xylem and Phloem are present as vascular bundles, Xylem consists of vessels, whereas Phloem consists of sieve tubes and companion cells.

4. The embryos inside the seeds contain cotyledons. Depending on this angiosperms are classified as

a. Monocot - one cotyledon is present, e.g. - Maize, wheat etc.

b. Dicot - two cotyledon are present e.g. - Pea, gram, tamarind etc
