Solution

The factors responsible for the growth of cotton textile industries in Britain were;
  1. Heavy import duties were imposed on cotton textiles from outside Britain so as not to face any competition from outside.
  2. The East India Company was pressurised by the British industrialists to sell British manufactured clothes in Indian markets.
  3. The Manchester cotton goods were machine made and sold at cheaper price in India as compared to the local textiles. This increased their product-selling in India.
