Explain the mal pratices of indian election. Identify what are problems in each cause?
a. Use of unfair means and other malpractices like bogus voting, booth capturing etc.
b. Use of muscle and money power, arm twisting the voters, exploiting caste, religious issues for vote bank politics.
c. Ordinary citizens may find difficulty in getting tickets against any established parties or candidates. Candidates and parties with a lot of money do enjoy a big and unfair advantage.
d. In some parts of the country, candidates with criminal connection have been able to push others out of the electoral race and to secure a ‘ticket’ from major parties which again becomes a challenge for an ordinary citizen who then bears the brunt of the muscle power of parties and candidates.
e. Parties at times nominate candidates with criminal backgrounds as they can easily threaten votes and arm twist them to vote in their favor.
f. Such candidates can make use of muscle power and indulge in bogus voting, booth capturing at the time of elections so as to win.
g. Poverty, illiteracy allows parties to exploit voters and easily mould their choice.
h. In such a case, small parties tend to get sidelined.
i. Influential parties and contestants are likely to win .
j. Such mal practises raises serious misgivings about the democratic status of our country.
