1. India is a secular state. It implies that India does not have any state religion. People belonging to all religious communities are free to practise and follow their own religion.There is no discrimination of law on the grounds of religion.
2. India is a sovereign state. It implies that India is internally and externally free and independent. Internally, it has its own government elected by its people which make laws that govern the people. externally, it is free from the control of a foreign power.
3.India is a Republic. It implies that the head of state is not hereditary like a monarch but elected, directly or indirectly, for a fixed tenure.
4.Liberty implies freedom for citizens to express their views, thoughts and opinions and practise their faiths, worship and beliefs.
5.Equality implies equal treatment to all citizens without any discrimination on the grounds of class and status and provide similar opportunities to all.
