Indian National Congress: It is one of the oldest political parties of India and was founded in 1885. The party espouses secularism and welfare of weaker sections and minorities. Supports new economic reforms with a human face to it.
Bhartiya Janata Party: Founded in 1980. Wants to build a strong and modern India by drawing inspiration from India’s ancient culture and values.
Bahujan Samaj Party: Formed in 1984. This party wants to represent and secure power for bahujan samaj including Dalits and oppressed people.
Communist party of India: Founded in 1925. Believes in Marxism-Leninism and supports socialism, secularism and democracy and opposes imperialism.
Aam Aadmi Party: Founded in 2013. It emerged out of a movement led by Anna Hazarre against corruption & it stands for transparent government for the people of the country.
Akali Dal: Founded in 1920. It is a Sikhism- centric political party led by Sukhbir Singh Badal. It believes in the principle of coexistence of religion and politics.
