Question

explain why motion of any simple pendulum eventually stops

Open in App
Solution

The oscillatory motion of a Simple Pendulum (or any other vibrating/oscillating object for that matter) eventually stops as a consequence of viscous drag forces continually being exerted on it by the medium it is oscillating in. The damping forces tend to oppose the motion of the oscillating body continuously decreasing its amplitude.
