explain zeeman and stark effect.
Zeeman effect:- In the production of line spectra , if the source emitting the radiation is placed in a magnetic field , it is observed that each spectral line splits up into a number of lines. This splitting of spectral lines in magnetic field is called Zeeman effect.
Stark effect:- :- in the production of line spectra , if the source emitting the radiation is placed in a electric field , it is observed that each spectral line splits up into a number of lines. This splitting of spectral lines in electric field is called stark effect
