Question

find difference between instanious speed and average speed?

Open in App
Solution

Following are some of the differences between instantaneous speed and average speed:

  1. Instantaneous speed is the speed of a body at a particular instant during its course of motion. Average speed is the average of all the speeds during its course of motion.
  2. Instantaneous speed of a body can be zero even when the distance covered is non-zero. Average speed will always have a non-zero value for a non-zero distance covered.
  3. When we talk about speed of a body we generally tell its instantaneous speed. The speedometer of a car tells us about the instantaneous speed of the car. The average speed is the total distance covered by total time taken.
