Dear Student,

Primary sector is that sector of economy that is concerned with activities like agriculture, forestry, mining, fisheries etc.

With the development of our economy after independence the percentage share of primary sector in GDP has declined but the volume of agricultural production is still rising. The percentage share has declined because the share of secondary and tertiary sector has gone up.

Before independence the primary sector was dominant but now the tertiary sector is dominant , and within tertiary sectors all the sectors like transport, communication, hotels etc all have shown a tremendous growth,
