Food web increase the stability of an ecosystem because food web includes all interconnected food chains. A single organism may be connected to various food chains at same or different tropic level. Even if one organism becomes extinct by some means, the organism may be able to obtain food from other interlinked organism. Also, food web results in the regular circulation of energy and cycling of nutrients in the ecosystem, that aids in its stability.
