Question

for a reaction A + 2B + C ---> ABC, the rate law is rate = k [A] [C]^2. Find

(a) Unit of rate constant

(b) Effect on rate of reaction if concentrated of B is doubled.

Solution

Dear Student

Unit of rate constant = (mol L-1)1-n s-1, where n= order of reaction.
Here order of reactin is = 1+2 = 3
therefore, unit of rate constant = (mol L-1)1-3 s-1 = (mol L-1)-2 s-1 = L2 mol-2 s-1

Change in conc. of B does not effect the rate of reaction because rate law is independent of the term B.
