The act or process of growth is called development. It is a related term. Its meaning can vary from case to case. If we say"for development, people look at mix of goals", we mean a balanced development or an all round development because development is productive if balanced on all fronts and dimensions. There can be two types of goals:

• long term
• short term

A student can aim to be an IAS officer in the long term but would aim to score highest in his class in short term. Similarly,

• a rickshaw puller would aim to but an autorickshaw
• a share holder would aim to gain maximum from his investments etc.
