Open in App
Solution

Oesophagus or food pipe is a thin muscular tube about 25 cm long act as passage for food. It runs posteriorly downwards through throat and thorax and then it enters into the stomach.
Food from mouth moves in oesophagus by movements called peristalsis to enter inside stomach. As the peristaltic wave reaches the junction of oesophagus and stomach, oesophagal sphincter opens and allows the food to enter into stomach.
