Question

gas changes into solid without changing into liquid state how

Solution

Sublimation is a process in which a solid turns directly into gas without passing through liquid state. Compounds like camphor, ammonium chloride, naphthalene etc. show sublimation.Sublimation is an endothermic process in which heat is supplied to the solid. This process occur at temperatures and pressure below the triple point (temperature and pressure at which all the three states , solids, liquid and gas coexist ) of the solid substance. The solids having very weak intermolecular forces have a higher vapour pressure than usual and the atmospheric pressure is very low to stop the molecules from escaping due to which these solids pass directly into vapour state.
