1.A Plateau is a table land with a general elevation of 600-900 metres, bounded by escarpment on all sides and sometimes enclosed by mountains.
2.The feature that set it apart from mountains is that they are remarkably flat.
3.Some plateaus are integral part of mountain range,e.g. Altiplano in southern Peru and western Bolivia whereas some plateaus, occur far from mountain belts.eg. Deccan Pleateau of central India.
4.Plateaus are sculpted by geologic forces that lift them up and the action of wind and rain wear them into mesas, buttes, and canyons
