Give reason for the following:(i) O-Toludine is more basic than aniline.(ii) Tertiary amines do not undergo acetylation reaction.

1. O-toludine (ortho-substituted aniline) is les basic than aniline due to ortho effect which is due to steric and electronic factors.

2. In acylation reaction, H atom of N-H group is replaced by CH3CO- group. Since, tertiary amines donot have a N-H bond, they donot undergo acylation reaction.
