Seedlings must be transplanted in evening or late afternoon so that the seeds get adequate time to settle down before the appearance of midday hot sun rays which absorbs moisture from the soil. If we transplant the seedlings in the morning, they have to withstand scorching sunrays all over the day and they may get wilted due to excessive water loss. Due to transplantation their roots also need some time to settle down before water absorption starts.
