Some important applications based on compressibility of gases are
1) LPG (liquefied petroleum gas)
LPG stands for liquefied petroleum gas. As the name suggests, the gas is liquefied for the purpose of storing. LPG is actually a gas at room temperature and pressure but can be liquefied when high pressure is applied and the temperature is reduced. Thus the gas is liquefied under pressure and low temperature and then stored in cylinders.
2) Oxygen supplied to hospitals in cylinders is compressed gas
3) Compressed natural gas (CNG) is used as fuel these days in vehicles. Due to its high compressibility, large volumes of a gas can be compressed into a small cylinder and transported easily.
