H2O2 is an oxidising as well as reducing agent
Dear student!
Hydrogen peroxide has the ability to gain or lose electrons, as its oxygen atoms are in the -1 oxidation state. By gaining electrons it undergoes to the -2 oxidation state, and by losing electrons it undergoes to the zero oxidation state (i,e, as the element).
As an oxidising agent as:
H2O2 + H2S ----> 2H2O + S
As a reducing agent:
H2O2 + Cl2-------> 2HCl + O2
