Heart is between two lungs and its covered by ribcage.In that case during any heart surgury how is the heart operated inspite of ribcage surround by it?

Depending upon the portion of heart to be exposed, there are many methods of heart surgery. The most common method used is full sternotomy. In this method an incision or cut is made in the middle of the chest from the top of the sternum (Chest bone) to the bottom and rib cage is opened. This method of heart surgery is the standard approach where the entire rib cage is opened and the heart muscle is fully exposed.
