there are 20 cars and motorcycles in a parking area. If there are 56 wheels alltogether, how many cars are there?

Let the number of wheels of car be x and number of wheels of motocycle be y. So, x y = 56 ...............(1) x/4 y/2 = 20 x 2y = 80 ...............(2) Subtract equation 1 from 2 y = 24 x = 32 So number of cars = 32/4 = 8
