honeybees produce their young ones only by sexual reproduction. Inspite of this in a colony of bees we find both haploid & diploid individuals in the colony. State the reasons their formation.

Reproduction in honey bees is different from what is commonly seen. Honey bees show haplodiploidy.

Haplodiploidy is a system where females have two copies of each chromosome, but males have just one copy. Thus, we can say that in such condition sex is determined by the number of chromosomes. Females develop by fertilization of egg and males develop without fertilization of egg. Reproduction is carried only by queens.
